This is an interesting video in which the speaker addresses the concept of the “God Helmet”. He explains from his own perspective the manner in which many altered states of consciousness can be induced and introduces in the discussion this tool of the God Helmet.
It is worth listening to although it misses one key point that is explored in depth in the Power Before Thought. All altered states exist in the lower Dream, state. The real mastery is to go beyond all of these and, as even the master shamans acknowledge that is to a place very few ever go. Science has given us great insights into alternate perceptions through the use of mind altering technologies. These technologies include manipulation of frequencies that entrain or alter the brain wave activity in some way. However drawing the conclusion form this outcome that all experiences therefore are in themselves induced through the brain itself is somewhat premature.
One must always remember that science is a religion. It has its own great God “Random” and its lesser deities such as biology; quantum physics and so forth. These individual gods extract their own offerings in the way of belief. One belief of science is to work the principle of testing a hypothesis until it is proven wrong. It should be noted that not proving it wrong, does not prove it right in any sense of the word other than the dreamer of the hypothesis and his or her minions. Having said that, this talk is great.
